A recruiter who prides himself on building winning teams, Tom Bastian found the camaraderie and collaboration he was missing as a small business owner at HUDSON. Learn how he escapes the isolation and distraction of his home office with a HUDSON membership.
A friend of mine actually suggested visiting the HUDSON and I was impressed with what I saw. I liked the setup. I’ve been looking for a place that I’m not totally committed to, all year and every day, like having a private office in another building somewhere. But I like the concept.
I do officially office out of my home, out of my place, and I’ve done that for seven years now, well actually six years until I started working at HUDSON. I use it to get out of the four walls of my place. It seems as though when I’m officing out of my home, I have a dog and of course he would act up every time I was on an important phone call, barking and whatever, and it was pretty embarrassing sometimes.
Networking is very important to me in my business, I find a lot of passive candidates this way. I’ve gotten to know a number of people here just by coming in after a number of months. You recognize a lot of the people and made some friendships, and bounced ideas, sharing ideas.
I’m used to being around other professionals, and since I’ve started my business seven years ago I’ve missed that. I haven’t missed a lot of the other things, but I have missed the camaraderie of being with other people, bouncing ideas off them, and it’s one of the reasons I chose HUDSON.
Those that are entrepreneurs, that are self employed. I know they feel the same way I do, they want a place to go to work and feel like they’re focusing, they’re going to their job. First of all you have to be disciplined to be self employed, but I think it reinforces that discipline when you’re going into an office every day. I would highly recommend it to anybody that is looking for an office space, it’s a much better alternative and much more affordable.
